Who and why should eat low-carb?
-
If you aim to lose weight, manage your blood glucose or simply perform at your best—at work, in sport, and in life—while staying active and energised, a low-carb diet is your choice.
Low-carb DOES NOT mean no carbs. Low-carb nutrition includes slow-digesting carbohydrates from vegetables, whole grains, and pulses that nourish the gut and provide steady energy. By reducing sugars and refined products that spike blood glucose, you support metabolic balance, limit cravings, and improve health to live a longer, more active life. When combined with protein and healthy fats, this way of eating is sustainable, satisfying, and compatible with both performance and well-being.
How to eat low-carb:- Reduce high-GI foods: sugars, sweets, refined grains, ultra-processed products
- Choose low-GI carbs: vegetables, fruits, pulses, whole grains (preferably cooked al dente)
- Combine carbs with protein and healthy fats to stabilise blood sugar
- Prioritise fibre-rich foods to support gut health and satiety
- Include fermented foods contining beneficial bacteria for your gut
- Opt for a savoury, protein-rich breakfast to avoid sugar spikes
- Animal-sourced protein during the day, but choose plant protein for an evening meal to sleep better
- Include omega-3 sources: fatty fish, nuts, seeds, and quality oils
- Stay well hydrated throughout the day
