You can place a single order, or if you like our service, set a frequency that suits your lifestyle. There’s no obligation. You don’t need to know in advance how often you want to order; it’s very flexible. We have found that our current customers have 3 preferred ordering methods. Planners” plan their deliveries for the next 4 weeks. They increase or decrease their orders, skip one or more weeks, and even change the address when they travel in Switzerland. The “Spontaneous” buy from time to time when they feel like treating their family or friends to an excellent dinner or lunch. Travellers” freeze orders for an indefinite period when they are on holiday, for example, and release them on their return. You can also ask us to delete your account – we’ll be sorry, but we’ll do it immediately at your request.
Reducing our impact on the planet is fundamental to us. That’s why we work on pre-ordering; this approach allows us to have ZERO food waste. 99% of our packaging is recyclable or reusable. We provide a free mailing label with every 4th box so that you can send the ice blocks back to us in a cardboard box. We reuse the ice blocks and the cardboard. You can recycle a cardboard box with other papers. You can compost the thin wooden trays as well as the compostable vacuum bags.
The best-before date is stated on the packaging. It is 5 to 7 days after delivery. We recommend that you eat your meals within the first few days after delivery. If you can’t finish your meals before the use-by date, you can store them in the freezer. It is important to defrost them slowly in your fridge to preserve their quality. Quick defrosting in a microwave or at room temperature is not recommended.
Imagine healthy food. Does it make your mouth water? If not, many of you think so. Often, the notion of healthy food conjures up images of dark green salads, rubbery tofu with no seasoning or low-fat yoghurt. Whereas ‘the pleasure of eating’ is associated with sugary, fatty foods, fried meals and snacks. This is precisely where Switzerland’s 2017-2024 national nutrition policy needs to improve. It focuses on education and accessibility but completely ignores behaviour, as if knowing what a healthy diet is could prevent someone from ordering a hamburger online or buying a packet of crisps in the grocery shop.
The pleasant image of healthy eating is a serious flaw in our nutrition policy. In Japan, for example, one of the dietary guidelines is “enjoy your meals”. Japan has the longest life expectancy in the world.
It has been scientifically proven that the pleasure and satisfaction associated with eating are essential to a healthy diet. On the contrary, negative emotions linked to food, such as regret, guilt and shame, have real consequences for our well-being – and not just for social reasons. Pleasure triggers better digestion. The anticipation of satisfaction from food tells our parasympathetic nervous system to trigger its relaxation response and activate your digestion while relaxing the muscles of your gastrointestinal tract and increasing digestive fluids. The opposite can happen if you eat something you don’t like; you trigger a stress response in your body.
